World-famous ice-cream brand opens in Los Alcázares
The store in Los Alcázares is only the 8th RivaReno shop in Spain
The latest new business to be welcomed by the town of Los Alcázares has now opened in Plaza 525, where RivaReno Gelato are bringing their Italian ice-creams to their second outlet in the Region of Murcia following the success of the first in Cartagena.
The company was founded in Bologna in 2004 and has since won various awards, including being named “Best Ice-Cream IN Italy by the food and drink association Golosaria. Their product is described as “genuinely Italian”, creamy and fresh and made in small batches in a specially designed “laboratory” using stainless steel cylinders known as “pozzetti” in order to achieve a perfect texture.
The eight other outlets already open in Spain, apart from the one in Puertas de Murcia in Cartagena, include those in prime tourist spots such as Palma de Mallorca and Marbella, and the chain also operates in major cities such as New York, Miami, Sydney and Paris.
Among the specialities are the delicious “cremino”, “pistacchio salato” and “Alice” (a combination of mascarpone, Marsala Vergine Soleras wine and Gianduia chocolate sauce).
Surprisingly, the founders are not all life-long ice-cream specialists: one was a car industry executive, another a BBBC journalist and another a lawyer, and they joined their specialist ice-cream man with the sole purpose of creating “an exceptional ice-cream”. It seems to have worked!
The name of the company, RivaReno, is a reference to the shore of the River Reno, which flows through the city of Bologna.
