La Lonja Cultural Centre Orihuela

Multi purpose cultural centre, auditorium and music school, Orihuela city

La Lonja Cultural Centre Orihuela

La Lonja is a multi-use cultural centre set in the heart of Orihuela city and was first built as a covered marketplace (an auction house to be exact) in 1926, designed by Orihuela architect, Severiano Sánchez Ballesta.

The original building forms a large rectangular base, built in three aisles, supported by iron beams and columns. The principal fachade sports a tiled design of the Orihuela coat of arms, ( escudo) flanked by cornucopia, horns of plenty.

The building fell into disuse following the construction of a more modern lonja in the Polígono Industrial Puente Alto, and was reformed by the council for use as a cultural centre, auditorium and music school.
In 2008 it was inaugurated as the "Conservatorio Pedro Terol".

Ticket sales for cultural events held at La Lonja:
Tickets are sold two hours prior to the performance on the day of the performance at La Lonja or can be purchased in advance online.

Exhibitions:
La Lonja offers exhibition facilities within the building. When there are exhibitions in situ, these are open as follows:

Sundays and festival days: from 10am to 2pm
