June 5 to 7 Free concerts at the 2025 Cartagena Folk Festival
A weekend showcasing the latest sounds in modern and traditional Spanish folk music with plenty of other activities for all the family
Year after year the annual free folk music festival in Cartagena grows in size and popularity, and for the 2026 edition, which takes place in the Parque de la Rambla (close to the football stadium) between 5th and 7th June, a mouth-watering array of live performances has been lined up:
Friday June 5
20.30: Pájaro Guía, followed De Ninghures, one of the most promising new Galician folk bands at present, combining music from the Atlantic coast with contemporary influences.
22.45: Sedo DJ.
Saturday June 6
12.45: Music from D’Akokán y Mixtura, another fusion of traditional sounds with more contemporary styles including those of the Mediterranean, other parts of the Iberian Peninsula and Latin America.
20.30: Camino Sur.
21.30: Xabier Díaz & Adufeiras de Salitre, another of the leading lights in traditional Galician music. Xabier Díaz is indefatigable in his aim of resurrecting old Galician folk songs, and with the backing of the voices and percussion of Adufeiras de Salitre he has put together a fabuolous show.
22.45: CasaPalma bring their presentation of northern Iberian folk music, including mountain songs from Cantabria.
Sunday June 7
13.00: Barrio Mudéjar, a Project led by multi-instrumentist Carlos Soto, formerly of the group Celtas Cortos.
In addition there are various workshops and activities being held over the weekend for which prior registration is required online here:
Friday June 5
18.30 and 19.15: Sessions of “bolos cartageneros”, a traditional skittles-like game.
Saturday June 6
12.00: Cheese and beer tasting.
18.30: Hecho en Casa, a children’s show.
19.30: Wine tasting.
