December 20 The Dianto Reed Quintet present a wide selection of classical music in Águilas
The DNA concert includes works by Sibelius, Vivaldi, Falla, Halffter, Lili Boulanger and Skalkottas at the seafront auditorium in Águilas
The new A Tempo season of classical music events brings down the curtain on 2026 in Águilas on Sunday 20th December, with a concert in which the multi-award-winning Dianto Reed Quintet presents “DNA”, a distinctive project that takes the musicians' own origins as the starting point for a musical journey. Following genetic tests undertaken by all five members, the programme traces an unexpected map of connections stretching from Scandinavia to the Balkans, and from the Mediterranean to Latin America.
Sibelius, Vivaldi, Falla, Halffter, Lili Boulanger and Skalkottas sit alongside traditional music and new works by Ramin Amin Tafreshi and Fuensanta Méndez. The result is far more than a geographical journey: it becomes a reflection, through sound, on identity, memory, inheritance and belonging. Five reed instruments, and one shared question: how many places make up the story of who we are?
The five members of the quintet are María González Bullón (oboe), María Luisa Olmos Ros (clarinet), Ovidi Martí Garasa (saxophone), Erik Steven Rojas Toapanta (bass clarinet) and María Losada Burgo (bassoon).
Tickets for the concert, which begins at 20.00, are available at 20 euros online here as well as through the auditorium box office and at the local Archaeological museum and the Casa de la Cultura.
In addition, season tickets for all of the five events scheduled between 30th October and 20th December can be purchased at 75 euros here.

Águilas boasts 28 kilometres of coastline, with many fine, sandy beaches, sheltered coves and unspoilt natural beaches. It is a great summer favourite with Spanish holidaymakers, so always has a superb programme of concerts and activities throughout the summer, as well as the biggest carnival in the Region of Murcia, 40 days before Semana Santa (Easter.)
Throughout the year it also has a number of museums and historical attractions, a castle with fabulous views overlooking the bay and several other points of interest, all of which make it an good place to visit for days out. Throughout the year the tourist office runs monthly guided tours and the route of the railways, which explores the railway history of the town.
The tourist information office is located in the Plaza de Antonio Cortijos, just a short walk from the sea front and Plaza de España, a cool, shaded space in which to enjoy a coffee.
