Crew member found dead on German-owned luxury megayacht in Palma port

Civil Guard awaits autopsy results for woman in her mid-40s as no signs of violence appear on 52m vessel Lind

A woman in her mid-40s, who worked as crew on the luxury megayacht Lind, was found unresponsive in a cabin late Monday night while the vessel was moored at Moll Vell in Palma port, in Mallorca. Colleagues raised the alarm after not hearing from her for several hours, and emergency services confirmed her death at the scene.

The Civil Guard has launched an investigation but found no obvious signs of violence during the initial examination by the forensic doctor. Officers carried out an on-site inspection of the cabin and took statements from witnesses on board. The body has been moved to the Institute of Legal Medicine in Palma for an autopsy expected Tuesday March 3, which should clarify the cause of death.

The 52-metre Lind, built in 2010, can host 11 guests in five suites with a crew of 13. It charters for around €300,000 per week and flies the Cayman Islands flag. The owner is German businessman Peter Alexander Wacker, linked to chemicals giant Wacker Chemie.

At this stage, there is no evidence pointing to anyone else's involvement, and the focus remains on the autopsy results. Palma's busy yacht scene makes incidents like this especially striking. Our thoughts are with the crew and her loved ones as they await answers. The investigation continues.
