British film firm eyes six big shoots in Alicante next year
Global Films could bring €30m boost and 15,000 hotel nights to the region
Exciting times ahead for Alicante, with British production company Global Films Media Productions in advanced talks to film six feature films at the Ciudad de la Luz studios starting from the first quarter of 2026. Sources say negotiations are progressing well, with meetings already held at the Aguamarga complex and deals struck with key service providers. The projects could pump around €30 million into the local economy and create up to 15,000 overnight stays in hotels and tourist apartments.Global Films has lined up accommodation through a collaboration with the Provincial Association of Hotels and Tourist Apartments of Alicante (APHA). As revealed at APHA's Christmas cocktail party this Thursday, the association is stepping in to coordinate bookings for the crews across boutique hotels, tourist flats and larger spots. It's a smart move to keep everything smooth for these shoots stretching into early 2027.
Film buffs will love the line-up they're discussing. Titles like The Man Who Stole the Sky and The People of the Book are on the table, with directors such as Michael Haussman and Catherine Morshead attached. The company has a solid track record too, behind hits like The Infiltrator (2016) with Bryan Cranston and Johnny Depp in City of Lies (2021), plus the fresh Words of War (2025) starring Maxine Peake, Ciaran Hinds, Jason Isaacs and Harry Lawtey.
This comes as a welcome lift after a tricky 2025 for the studios, hit by various hurdles. If the agreements lock in, it positions film as a real tourism driver for Alicante once more. Local hotels and businesses stand to benefit big time from the buzz.
