2.5-magnitude earthquake registered in Jumilla this Wednesday morning
The quake is one of many regular seismic movements that take place in the area

An earthquake measuring 2.5 on the Richter scale was recorded early this morning, Wednesday July 9, in the northern Murcia town of Jumilla, according to sources from Spain’s National Geographic Institute (IGN).
Specifically, the earthquake occurred at 5.38am ata depth of 2km, with its epicentre right slap-bang in the middle of the town of Jumilla.
Small seismic movements like this one are not uncommon in the Region of Murcia. The intensity of these tremors does not usually exceed 2 degrees of magnitude, so although there are people who feel them, they usually go unnoticed by most people.
The National Geographic Institute has reiterated on numerous occasions that the frequency of these low to medium intensity earthquakes is, in reality, a good sign as the earth releases tensions in this way without waiting for a major earthquake.
